Citroen has held the world premiere of the all-new C3 SUV and it is going to be launched in the Indian market in the first half of 2022. Citroen C3 is one of the three models developed under the French automaker's C-cubed programme while keeping in mind the emerging markets like India and South America. The C3 will be developed at the Chennai facility with the highest level of localization in order to keep the pricing aggressive. Meanwhile, in the run up to the first half of 2022, the brand also intends to expand its dealership network in India.
Citroen C3 has been designed as an urban crossover with SUVish styling. Citroen big boss Vincent Cobee referred to it as a “hatchback with a twist”. Measuring 3.98 metres in length with decent ground clearance, it adorns signature Citroen design which is cool and trendy. The front fascia flaunts split LED headlamps with DRLs and dual-slate grille. The front grille houses the brand badging while working as a bridge between the two headlamps. As expected, there is excessive usage of black cladding all around the C3 while the front bumper boasts of orange accents. The pillar and roof rails are finished in a black color as the crossover rides on dual tone diamond cut alloy wheels. The rear profile features rectangular tail-lamp units and a dual tone bumper.
The cabin of the C3 will also witness tinges of orange here and there around the console and dashboard. The primary highlight will be the 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In fact, the company has also presented a Smartphone holder near the infotainment unit. The customers will also get a 3-spoke steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster. And in order to cut costs, a few ordinary features are also there in the form of manual air conditioner and single piece seats with non adjustable headrests. Though it will be offered with all four power windows while one might miss the rear centre armrest and rear AC vents.
Underpinning the CMP Modular architecture, Citoren C3 will be offered with two petrol engines. The aforementioned platform has been localized by upto 90 percent to save costs. The engines in question here are a 1.2L naturally aspirated and a 1.2L turbocharged unit. The former will develop top power of 81 bhp while the latter will have a power output of 108 bhp. The transmission duties will be carried out by a 5-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic unit. Sadly, there will not be any diesel engine available with the C3 crossover. The safety features onboard are expected to be dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, front seatbelts with pretensioners and load limiters etc. to name a few.
