Citroen C5 AirCross will rival the likes of Hyundai Tucson and Skoda Karoq in the domestic market.

Citroen C5 AirCross official bookings will commence from March 1, 2021 in the Indian market. The booking amount is yet to be revealed but in the coming days, we can expect an official announcement on the same. The SUV will arrive in the country by mid March while being sold in two variants namely Feel and Shine. Citroen C5 AirCross will rival the likes of Hyundai Tucson and Skoda Karoq in the domestic market. The SUV will be locally assembled at Citroen’s Thiruvallur plant with price expected to start from Rs 27  Lakhs (ex-showroom, India).

The upcoming Citroen C5 Aircross will retail at the brand’s La Maison showrooms across 10 select dealerships in India. The first dealership is set-up in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The French automobile giant is setting up outlets in other major Indian cities like Delhi, Gurugram, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin, Chennai and Kolkata.

Design-wise, it is quite distinctive from rivals while retaining the typical French styling. One can look forward to split LED headlamps and the grille housing LED DRLs at the front. Other design elements are fog lamps, roof rails, a roof-mounted spoiler and square-shaped LED taillamps. The premium SUV will ride on a set of 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

Moving on to the interior, the cabin is as premium as one can expect it to be due to Citroen's reputation globally. The Indian buyers can look forward to an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay & Android Auto and 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Other key features include dual-zone climate control, powered driver’s seat, panoramic sunroof, heated seating, wireless charging and split AC vents among others. Safety equipment on-board are 6 airbags, ABS, ESP, front & rear parking cameras, 3-point seatbelts for all five occupants and ISOFIX child seat mounts among many others.

Citroen C5 AirCross is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine.  The SUV will deliver a power output of 177 bhp and 400Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. There is no petrol engine as of now which would put it at backfoot as compared to the rivals.
