Citroen C5 Aircross will compete against Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tiguan and Hyundai Tucson in India.

Today, Citroen India marked its entry into the Indian automobile market with the unveiling of C5 Aircross. The premium SUV will be officially launched in the domestic market in March 2021. To cater to the lucrative and uber-competitive Indian market, the French automaker has opened 10 dealerships so far in the country. Citroen India is bringing the SUV through the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route. To keep the price competitive, 90 percent of the Citroen C5 Aircross’s components will be produced locally. As we await the official launch, the first unit has already rolled out of the assembly line at the Tamil Nadu facility. Citroen C5 Aircross will compete against rivals like Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tiguan and Hyundai Tucson in the Indian market. Talking about the pricing, expect the Citroen C5 Aircross to retail at Rs 30 lakhs (ex-showroom, India).

Moving to the design, the SUV sports double chevron design and curved side panels at the front. At the rear, the lights feature four rectangular 3D LED modules to give a premium appearance to the vehicle. The SUV will ride on two-tone diamond-cut alloy wheels. Overall, the SUV is muscular, imposing in appearance and retains the design of the model selling in the international market. SUV is available in 4 colour options -Pearl White, Cumulus Grey, Tijuca Blue and Perla Nera Black while there are 3 dual-tone roof colour schemes also.

Talking about the interior, the cabin comes in a Metropolitan Grey scheme with Grey Grained leather upholstery. Also, the dashboard comes in a grey colour scheme. Upping the premium appearance is the inclusion of black elements as well as chrome inserts in the cabin. One can look forward to features like an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, Air Quality System (AQS) and Panoramic Glass Sunroof among many others. The boot space is 580-litres which can be further extended to 720-litres if one moves the rear seats forward. If one just folds the modular rear seats, the buyers will be quite happy with the huge 1630-litres of boot space.

The biggest highlight of the upcoming SUV is the flying carpet effect. This is called so as the occupants will face no discomfort while riding over bumpy roads thanks to Progressive Hydraulic Cushion suspension system. Safety equipment on-board the SUV are multiple airbags, Park Assist, Blind-Spot Monitoring System, Hill-start assist and Keyless entry among others.

The C5 Aircross is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine with a power output of 178 bhp and 400Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard. One can also change the gears manually using the steering wheel-mounted paddles. The manufacturer claims a fuel efficiency of 18.60 kmpl.
