Citroen C5 X will come with petrol and plug-in-hybrid powertrains

Citoren, the renowned French automaker, has taken the wraps off the all-new C5 X which happens to be its new flagship model. Being based on the CXperience Concept which had its premiere five years back at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, it will go on sale later this year in global markets. The SUV will come with petrol and plug-in-hybrid powertrains. It is unlikely to launch in the Indian market as Citroen is developing an all-new sub-compact SUV for the country which will be locally produced at its factory in Tamil Nadu.

Talking about Citroen C5 X, it adorns the company's ‘fastback bodystyle’ styling which is an amalgamation of saloons and estate cars. Though, the brand has added several cues of SUV styling as well for offering the buyers superior aerodynamics. The front and rear profiles flaunt V-shaped LED lights to lend it the signature Citroen appearance. Dimension-wise, the C5 X measures 4805mm in length, 1865mm in width and 1485mm in height while riding on 19-inch alloy wheels. “With C5 X, Citroën has created an ambitious, large touring vehicle, a real tool for winning over customers who are increasingly inclined to explore the world,” said Vincent Cobée, the CEO of Citroën.

Inside the cabin, the SUV boasts of a plethora of premium features such as Extended Head Up Display, Highway Driver Assist and a 12-inch HD touchscreen 'My Citroen Drive Plus' infotainment system with natural voice recognition and customizable display with widgets. Mechanically, the C5 X comes loaded with a plug-in-hybrid powertrain setup which delivers top power of 225bhp. A special ZEV mode is also available which increases the overall range by 50 kms while driving at speeds of 135kmph. “An audacious and original proposal that truly embodies all of Citroën's expertise: innovation, care and above everything well-being which we elevate here as a certain form of art of living” he added.
