Citroen Cars India has announced that it will offer advanced safety features on its cars in India. All Citroen cars will now come equipped with six airbags as standard. In the past few years, the Indian automotive market has seen a huge demand for enhanced safety features in automobiles. Getting along with the ongoing trend, the automaker is gearing up to offer an advanced safety kit in its vehicles starting in July 2024.

The company made a statement that it is all set to offer six airbags and other safety features like ISOFIX seat anchorage and a seatbelt reminder at the rear as a standard in all its vehicles. This move comes after surging demand for more safety features in passenger vehicles available on the domestic market. The addition of advanced safety features will make Citroen cars more attractive for the company’s potential buyers.

The French carmaker has now joined other manufacturers in offering this feature. Several studies have proven that the six-airbag system plays a key role in preventing fatalities and serious injuries if an accident occurs. The six-airbag system features side airbags, curtain airbags, and front airbags. Integrating a six-airbag system is a must in a country like India, where the percentage of accidents is high.

The MD and CEO at Stellantis India, Aditya Jairaj, said, “Customers today have evolved to understand safety as an equally important requirement as driving comfort and feature. At Citroen, we continuously evaluate and react to consumer requirements with speed to meet their evolving needs. The safe mobility ambition of the brand will continue to push our team to provide the highest level of protection, drive quality and value to our customers."

The French auto giant entered the Indian market with the C5 Aircross sports utility vehicle in early 2021. As of now, it offers various models, including the eC3 electric car, the C3, and the C3 Aircross SUV. Recently, Citroen integrated an Aisin-sourced six-speed torque-convertor AT gearbox into the C3 Aircross seven-seater SUV to enhance the appeal of the car in India. The SUV comes in two trims: Max and Plus. The C3 Aircross is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter AT.

The Citroen C3 and eC3 models currently come equipped with safety features like dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, and ABS with EBD. The Citroen hatchbacks feature a parking camera, whereas the C3 Aircross also has hill hold assist and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
