India is firmly in the Coronovairus Pandemic zone with over 1.5 lakh confirmed cases and the death toll reaching 4,706 as of now. India as of today, is the ninth-worst hit country in the world in terms of Coronavirus cases. The Central Government on 15th of May had relaxed the nation wide lockdown leaving it on different states to regulate the movement of people. With that, Haryana which shares its border with Delhi had allowed movement of office goers from 7 am to 9 am where there would be no document checking. Moerover towards the evening one had to return home before the curfew deadline of 7 p.m. But today, the State annouced the closing of its border citing fresh Coronavirus Cases which have cropped in India and its surrounding areas.

Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij on this announcement said, "The main reason behind the spike in cases is the entry of people from Delhi into areas of Haryana which share its border with Delhi". He further added, "in the last one week, Faridabad reported 98 cases, Jhajjar reported six cases, Sonipat 27 and Gurugram 111 cases. Barring those categories for which relaxation has been granted by the high court and the Home Ministry, the inter-state border should be sealed".
Naturally, today morning office goers and other people going to Gurgoan faced the ordeal of a closed border. According to several media reports, people on foot, riding cycles and on motorcycles were stopped from entering Gurgaon. A few motorists were allowed to pass through given that they had the proper paper work basically the e-pass. This led to protests from the public leading to a tense situation. A group of workers who are employed in the various factories in the Udyog Vihar resorted to violence leading to a confrontation with the Police. Incidences of stone-pelting were reported also from the border with 6 cops getting hurt in the violence.
As per the latest reports streaming in, 220 people have tested COVID-19 positive just in Gurugram. Majority of the infected people according to authorities have come from Delhi thus forcing the Gurgoan DM to issue an order for sealing the border with the National capital. The border is completely sealed now with the movement of only essential services workers are allowed. A couple of weeks back, Haryana government gave an undertaking that essential service workers including doctors, nurses, police personals, court and municipal agencies workers will be allowed to travel between Delhi and Haryana if they have e-passes.
