Cupra has revealed a new high-performance hybrid SUV called the Formentor. Pictures released from the carmaker show the SUV Coupe to be almost production ready despite being a concept.
The Formentor is powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain mated to a dual-clutch transmission. The setup delivers 245 PS of power while also being capable of a 50 kms all-electric range. The SUV has been tuned to offer highest levels of dynamics according to Cupra, thanks to the adaptive suspension and a progressive steering system. The Formentor will also be a fairly capable off-roader as it gets a differential lock. Drivers will also get to choose between driving modes, depending on the conditions.
The SUV coupe features an aggressive exterior design. It is characterized by its dynamic proportions and strong character lines that run across its body. The new front-end fascia has also been designed to make the SUV look sporty with sharp angles and aggressive headlights paired with LED DRLs. The rear end features taillights that run throughout the width of the car using an LED strip, Cupra calls it the ‘rear infinite light concept’.
The cabin is built with high-quality materials and features leather carbon-backed bucket seats, a Cupra steering wheel, dark chrome and high-gloss black accents. The dashboard is dominated by the digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen display while the gear selector for the DSG transmission is also new.
The new Cupra Formentor concept will make its public debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show while production versions are expected to go on sale in 2020.
