Gets bolder looks while boasting of premium interiors with lots of space; Will go on sale in March 2019

The big story for Honda at Auto Expo 2018 is the all-new second-generation Amaze, which made its global debut. As is quite visible from the pictures Honda seems to have worked hard to up the premium quotient for the second-generation Amaze with a car that is far more appealing to look at, and along with a greater focus on the cabin ambience.

The second-gen Amaze clearly draws inspiration from the Accord Hybrid with bold design cues and sharper styling. It features a more balanced silhouette, a flattened nose, a prominent bonnet and neatly executed rear. The Amaze continues to remain a compact sedan and measures within four meters in length to qualify for a lower rate of taxation applicable on compact cars. Interiors have taken a leap over the previous generation model with a new beige and black interior with nice fit and finish, and more cabin space than the previous-generation car. There's also a touchscreen display for the infotainment system,

While no powertrain details have been revealed yet, you can expect the second-generation Amaze to continue with the 1.2-litre, 88hp, petrol and 1.5-litre, 100hp diesel engine of the outgoing car. In addition to a 5-speed manual gearbox, the diesel engine Amaze will also offer a new CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) automatic transmission variant.

Honda says that the Amaze has been developed specifically for India at Honda’s Asia Pacific R&D centre in Thailand incorporating findings from extensive market surveys conducted on Indian car owner’s driving needs and lifestyles. The Amaze will go on sale in March 2019.
