Delhi Traffic Police working on new projects to track traffic violators with new technology.

With every passing day, traffic in metro cities of India is getting worse. The national capital is amongst the worst in this regard having many violators causing huge traffic jams. In order to curb this situation and reduce the traffic violations, Delhi Traffic Police has proposed a new project worth Rs. 1000 crores to enhance the traffic system and the Ministry of Home Affairs has approved this proposal.

This project consists of a new technology to catch the traffic violators including those who cross red lights and speed violators. The Intelligence Traffic Management System will be implemented in three phases. The system includes a new 3D radar-based Red Light Violation Detection Camera (RLVD) system that will be installed at 24 junctions to trace the people jumping red lights.

Delhi Traffic Police will also install gantry-mounted radar-based Over Speed Detection System at around 100 locations in the national capital. These systems are expected to be installed in Delhi by July this year. They are also coming up with new e-challan systems in collaboration with National Informatics Centre for a more effective prosecution of violators.
