The engine has been tweaked to be BS-IV compliant.

The updated Monster 821 is now on sale in India and it costs Rs 9.51 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The
price is introductory for now. The bike gets an updated BS-IV- compliant motor, and design and
equipment upgrades for 2018.
The same 821cc, 90-degree V-twin motor continues but it is now BS-IV compliant. Peaker power is down
by 2hp, it is now 110hp and torque has now gone down to 86Nm from 89.4Nm. Power is sent via a six-
speed gearbox, and a bi-directional quickshifter is an optional extra. The bike gets a redesigned fuel tank
and a sharper tail section. There’s a new headlight, from the Monster 1200, with LED DRLs. The all-
digital LCD instrument console has made way for a TFT display. There are eight levels of traction control
and three ride modes – Urban, Touring and Sport – along with switchable ABS.
