Ducati Panigale V2 will be the Italian bikemaker's first BS6 compliant model in India

Ducati India has launched the Panigale V2 at a sticker price of Rs 16.99 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, India) in the country. It will replace the Panigale 959 in the Indian market while being the Italian bikemaker's first BS6 compliant model in India. The Panigale V2 is the new entry-level motorcycle in Ducati's portfolio but it is nearly Rs 1.70 Lakhs more expensive than the 959 Panigale which was priced at Rs 15.30 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi). Ducati Panigale V2 will directly rival the recently launched BMW S1000RR in the country.

Speaking of the Panigale V2's styling and appearance, it takes cues from the Panigale V4 and some might even refer to it as a downsized version of the mighty V4. Underpinning an all-new sub-frame, it gets a single-sided swingarm. The company has retained the 43mm Showa big-piston fork as front suspension from the Panigale 959 while increasing the length of Sachs monoshock at the rear suspension by 2mm. Some of the premium features of the motorcycle includes cornering ABS, anti-wheelie control and engine brake control. Ducati Panigale V2 comes with multiple riding modes: Race, Sport and Street. The bike will be imported in India as CBU from the company's Thailand production facility.

Mechanically, it will be powered by a 955cc twin-cylinder Superquadro petrol engine which has been updated to Euro5/BS6 emission norms. This engine was also present in the Panigale 959, albeit in BS4 guise. The BS6 compliant motor is more powerful than the BS4 unit by 5bhp as it now belts out top power of 155bhp at 10750rpm and peak torque of 104Nm at 9000rpm. The engine is linked to a 6-speed transmission with a bi-directional quickshifter also being standard feature. The motorcycle had its global launch earlier this year in Jerez, Spain. The bookings for the Panigale V2 have already started at the company authorized dealerships while the deliveries are slated to begin from October.
