The Argo will replace the Punto in the carmaker’s global line-up

Fiat will finally replace the Punto, after 12 years of selling the car and will replace it with the Argo. The new hatch is edgy and muscular, and has been designed and developed in Brazil. Official images of the Argo for Brazil, which the company recently released, show a sharp- and sporty-looking hatchback with lots of bold, muscular lines. It’s also got a wide grille, elongated headlamps with LED DRLs, maroon highlights, precision-cut alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, trapezoidal chrome exhaust tip.

There will be three petrol engines on offer – a 72hp, 1.0-litre unit; a 101hp, 1.3-litre unit; and a 135hp, 1.8-litre unit. So far, there has been no word of a diesel engine yet. The engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, with the 1.8-litre unit mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox.

The Argo will first go on sale in Brazil, and will make its way to other markets later. There is no word yet about whether the car will make it to India or not.
