The car will first go on sale in South America.

The upcoming SUV will replace the company’s Freemont MPV that’s sold internationally. The new SUV will be based on Jeep’s Compass and is likely to feature similar styling as the Toro pickup.

The car will most probably be powered by a 138hp, 1.8-litre ethanol/petrol engine and 170hp, 2.0-litre Multijet turbo diesel engine as the Toro pickup. The smaller engine will be paired to a six-speed automatic transmission and will be front-wheel drive, while the bigger diesel engine will get a six-speed manual or optional nine-speed automatic gearbox, and will be sold in both front-wheel and all-wheel-drive combinations.

The upcoming SUV will be fitted with FCA’s 5-inch Uconnect infotainment system and a 7-inch MID in the centre of the instrument cluster, reverse-parking sensors and camera, seven airbags and a panoramic glass roof. It will first go on sale in South America and then will be made available for other markets.
