The all-new Fiat Cronos sedan will be based on the company’s Argo hatchback.

This Cronos will be unveiled early next year and is targeted at South American markets. In these countries, it will take on the likes of the Honda City, the New Hyundai Verna and the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus (Polo) sedan.

From recent spy shots, the Cronos (codename: X6S) will be styled on the same lines as the Argo. On the inside, the car will share a similar dashboard to the Argo, but it will come loaded with tech to be more appealing to buyers.

The car will also come fitted with an automatic gearbox which uses either a traditional lever or a push-button system, while a five-speed manual will also be on offer.

Engines will include a 1.0-litre, a 1.3-litre and a range-topping 139hp, 1.8-litre flex-fuel engine, paired to a five-speed manual, a six-speed automatic or a five-speed automated manual gearbox. The car will first go on sale in Brazil, before it goes on sale internationally. There are no plans to bring the car to India so far.
