In a fresh development, Ford India has increased the prices of the EcoSport by Rs 1500 across all variants. As per the official website, the popular subcompact SUV's new prices are effective from the 1st of October, 2020. With this new price hike, the Ford EcoSport now has a starting price of Rs 8.19 lakh with the top-end trim retailing at Rs 11.73 lakhs (ex-showroom), Delhi. Earlier in July this year, the American automaker had given a big price increase of Rs 13,500 across all trims of the EcoSport in the country.
The manufacturer has not revealed the reason behind raising the prices of the EcoSport. This hike is surprising considering that other manufacturers are curently giving Festive Season Discounts on most of their offerings. Though the pone reason we could attribute for the price hike is the rising input costs brought on by the COVID-19 outbreak. A few months back, the popular Ford Endevarour also received a price hike ranging from Rs 44,000 to Rs 1.20 lakhs. The price increase varies from variant to variant.
In India, the company retails the EcoSport in 6 variants namely Ambiente, Trend, Titanium, Thunder Titanium+, and S. In 2019, Ford introduced a new variant called Thunder with a manual gearbox that was offered with both petrol and diesel powertrains. Speaking about the engines, the subcompact SUV features a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder diesel units under its hood. The former churns out 120 bhp of maximum power output with 149 Nm of peak torque while the latter delivers 99 bhp of power output and 215 Nm of peak torque. Both these engines are paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. There is also a 6-speed automatic torque converter gearbox available with only the petrol model.
