Ford India had launched the BS6 Endeavour SUV in February this year in a price range of Rs 29.55-33.25 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi) in the country. The SUV was equipped with a new 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged 'Panther' diesel engine with 170bhp of top power. Though, there is also a more powerful twin-turbocharged version of this engine which delivers 213bhp and the auto aficionados were hoping that the American automaker will eventually introduce it in India. But, the company has made it clear that Ford Endeavour BS6 will continue to be offered with the same engine and no new version will be introduced.
Ford Endeavour is christened as 'Everest' in several global markets such as Australia, Thailand, Vietnam and South Africa. In all of the aforementioned markets, the SUV is powered by this 2.0L 4-cylinder twin-turbocharged diesel engine which generates maximum power output of 213bhp and peak torque performance of 500Nm. This engine could have been a perfect replacement for the Endeavour's recently phased out 3.2L 5-cylinder motor which developed 200bhp and 470Nm. The company has not announced any replacement for the 3.2L diesel engine in India but the 2.2L BS4 mill has been replaced by the 2.0L single-turbo unit which belts out 170bhp and 420Nm. It is being learnt that the new-gen Ford Endeavour might get the twin-turbocharged diesel engine in the Indian market.

Being codenamed as U704, the next-gen Ford Endeavour will launch in the second half of 2021 in the Indian market. Before its Indian debut, it will be introduced in several international markets. The spy-shots indicate that the all-new SUV will be similar in proportions but the styling will take a radical departure from the present model with a more striking front grille and sleeker headlamps. The interior cabin will also be updated thoroughly with several advanced features and technologies. Ford is also working on a couple more SUVs for the Indian market which includes the new C-segment SUV with collaboration with Mahindra and an all-new compact SUV. The company is also readying a new variant of EcoSport with Mahindra's 1.2L mStallion turbocharged petrol engine.
