Maruti, India’s largest carmaker, says it will prioritise on bringing in new technologies which will result in lower emissions in its future cars, and also make them more fuel-efficient. The company claims that it has reduced CO2 emissions by as much as 19 percent since 2007-08.
It plans to further its progress by making its cars more aerodynamic, and also building them on lighter platforms. This includes usig Suzuki's Heartect platform, which is what the Baleno, the Ignis, the recently launched Dzire and the upcoming all-new Swift are built on.
Plus, Maruti plans on stressing on alternative solutions like Suzuki’s mild-hybrid systems (the technology found in the diesel Ciaz and Ertiga) along with factory fitted CNG systems to reduce emissions and increase fuel efficiency.
