Electric scooter manufacturer Gemopai recently released a teaser image of its upcoming first 'social distancing' electric scooter named Miso for India. Due to the COVID'19 scenario, a lot of people are expected to opt for personal mobility as compared to shared mobility and public transport. A majority of them are likely to gravitate towards two-wheelers, especially electric two-wheelers that have a very low running cost. Gemopai is positioning Miso as a first-of-its-kind product that meets the requirements of social distancing. The mini e-scooter is likely to come with only one seat for the rider.
Gemopai Miso is expected to be launched in June 2020. The electric scooter is likely to be offered in two variants. One with a rear loading carrier meant for commercial use. The other variant will come without a carrier for everyday use. The scooter is expected to come with minimal bodywork so that the range is optimized and parking requires less space as compared to a standard electric scooter.
According to the teaser image, Gemopai Miso Electric Scooter is likely to get a very functional design with no body panels. It will come with a single saddle, wide handlebars, and alloy wheels. The electric scooter is also likely to get a fully digital instrument panel. It will offer connected features via a dedicated app. The app will provide the rider with information like battery range, nearest charging station, vehicle status, and charging status.
The Miso will draw power from a 1 KW lithium-ion battery connected to a 250W motor. It is expected to offer a riding range of around 60 - 65 kms on a single charge. As for the top speed, it is expected to be around 30 kmph to 35 kmph. The electric scooter can easily be charged at home and will not require the user to visit a crowded fuel station.
Gemopai is joint venture between Goreen E-Mobility and China based Opai Electric. Gemopai Miso has been developed as per the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. The entire manufacturing and assembly is done in India. Only the battery pack has been imported. The e-scooter is expected to be launched at an affordable price of around Rs 45,000.
