The current 71hp 1.1-litre unit on the Grand i10 and Xcent will be replaced with a 75hp 1.2-litre diesel motor.

Hyundai is expected to launch the Grand i10 facelift in February 2017, while the updated Xcent compact sedan is likely to arrive later in March.

Both cars are expected to get updated front and rear ends with minor styling changes, like reprofiled lights and bumpers. Interiors too are likely to receive changes like a touchscreen infotainment system and new front seats; the current one-piece seats are likely to be replaced by ones with adjustable headrests.

However, the biggest change on the models will come in the form of a new 75hp 1.2-litre diesel engine that will replace the outgoing car’s 71hp 1.1-litre diesel unit.

The Grand i10 is a competitor to the likes of the Maruti Swift and the Honda Brio, while the Xcent rivals sub-four-metre compact sedans like the Swift Dzire and the Honda Amaze.
