All the way back in 1998, India got its first taste of accessible performance cars when Honda launched its first-generation City at the Auto Expo.
Ever since then, it has spawned different avatars through the years, but has been a best seller for Honda in almost every iteration. A quarter of all Honda City sales globally come from India – in October the carmaker crossed the 7 lakh units mark in the country. To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Autocar India is embarking on a 6,000km drive along the Golden Quadrilateral. Each generation of Honda City is part of this drive.
The drive starts in New Delhi, and heads to Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata, before culminating at the Honda factory in Greater Noida.
You can follow the journey on Autocar India’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts using the hashtag #20YearsofCity.
