Honda Cars India Plant Operations Halted due to Cyber Attack

Honda Cars as well as Honda Motorcycle & Scooters manufacturing facilities stall production due to a cyber attack.

Cyber attacks are not uncommon, from time to time we keep on hearing about individuals and companies falling prey to them. A recent such incident was that of Honda Cars India and Honda Motorcycle & Scooters India whose servers were breached due to which the production at their respective manufacturing facilities in Greater Noida, Tapukara (Rajasthan), Manesar, Narsapura, Kolar (Karnataka) and Vithalpur had to be stopped.

This is not it. According to a media report, Honda Cars' global operations that included 11 plants were affected due to this attack. It included 5 units in the United States of America followed by Turkey and Brazil. As per the latest inputs, the American manufacturing units have already restarted operations.

As far as India is concerned, the shutdown would have had some impact on production considering that the Japanese automaker is all-set to launch the latest iteration of the Honda City in the Indian market. The Honda City which will be in an all-new avtar will offer a dynamic exterior design followed by feature loaded interiors and highly efficient powertrains. It will comprise of both petrol and diesel powertrains. Another introduction which is on the cards includes the name of Honda WR-V facelift. The WR-V faceift will provide a refreshed exterior design along with updated interiors. Like the City, Honda would continue to offer petrol and diesel variants with the WR-V facelift.
