During these uncertain times, Honda Car India which was supposed to launch the much-awaited City pre-COVID19 would be preparing to do so in the coming few weeks. In fact, we expect Honda WR-V Facelift to also launch soon into the Indian market. However, the biggest news that we have for you here is that Honda is expected to introduce a diesel model of the Civic.
If reports are to be believed the Honda Civic that was launched last year, could receive a diesel powerplant. Incase introduced, this would be a surprise move on the part of the Japanese automaker considering that they just discontinued the Honda CR-V diesel from the market a couple of months ago. Plus looking at the market scenario with brands moving away from diesel currently, to look at bringing in an oil mill in this particular segment seems to be a bit of a gamble.
Would this pay off, well this only time can tell. But for those who are 'die heart' Honda Civic fans there is something exciting to look forward to. As of now according to an interview given by Rajesh Goyal - Senior Vice President and Director (Marketing & Sales) Honda Cars India to a well-known media outlet "diesels engines are here for a while". He further backed his statement by giving the example of Honda Amaze and WR-V which seem to be contributing good sales numbers with their diesel derivatives. Though it was not revealed what the actual specs of the diesel Honda Civic would be, but we expect a BS6 compliant 2.0 litre unit to be pressed into service when launched.
