The upcoming Honda SUV is expected to be launched sometime in September 2023

Honda Cars India has confirmed the launch of an SUV in the Indian market. Furthermore, it will be launched in the Indian market sometime in September 2023. As of now, the new product development is at a very early stage.

We have scarce information about the upcoming product. However, earlier this year, there were speculations that Honda has been working on an SUV which happens to be based on the City platform. The model will be 4.3 m long. Besides this, the India-spec SUV might be related to the production version of the Honda N7X Concept SUV that was recently revealed in Indonesia. Feature-wise, it should come loaded with a host of them like an infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, & Connected Car Tech, semi-digital instrument cluster, keyless entry with push-button start, cruise control, and sunroof. In terms of safety features, Honda’s upcoming SUV might get multiple airbags, parking sensors, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and a blind-spot monitor.

“Last time I said that we were investigating and preparing, but now I can confirm that Honda is under development of a new SUV product specially developed for the Indian market since the customers are focusing more on SUVs and its segment share is increasing,” as commented by Gaku Nakanishi, President & CEO, HCIL.

Details regarding the mechanical front have not been revealed yet. However, we can expect the new Honda SUV to utilize the powertrains of the fifth-generation Honda City. This will include the 1.5-litre petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel engine along with a CVT gearbox.

As for the price, we can expect this new SUV to fall in the range of Rs 10 lakhs - Rs 17 lakhs (ex-showroom). On being launched in the Indian market, it will rival the likes of Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, and Skoda Kushaq.
