Honda H’ness CB 350 platform will be base for upcoming Cafe Style racer and Scrambler

Honda Two-Wheelers is enjoying a stellar year after the success of H'ness CB 350 cruiser in India. It is challenging established Royal Enfield in the highly lucrative retro cruiser segment in the domestic market. The Indian manufacturer had to delay the Meteor 350 launch in the wake of H’ness CB 350's successful debut in the market. Royal Enfield Meteor 350 was priced in such a way that it undercut Honda H’ness CB 350 illustrating the growing appeal of Honda bikes in the country. Now, a recent report published in Japanese publication by the name of Young Machine talks about the brand having the intension of introducing a new H'ness CB 350 based scrambler motorcycle which would be coming next year. This is big news as it signals Honda’s ambitions towards the fast-growing motorcycle market be it globally or in India.

Taking the report further is a digital rendering of the bike carried out by Young Machine. The scrambler introduction will basically be aimed at developing markets like Thailand and India. If the pricing is correct, the Japanese manufacturer will make its mark in the entry-level scrambler segment. The scrambler will be launched first in Japan before making it’s way into the Indian market. Going back to the rendering, it certainly looks impressive. The bike features Scrambler style upswept exhaust and an engine bash plate. Other notable changes are revamped fenders, knobby tyres and headlight protector grille.

Earlier in October this year, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India's MD and CEO Atsushi Ogata had revealed to an online publication about new models based on H’ness CB 350 platform. Expect the Scrambler to come with the same suspension, chassis and engine as the cruiser motorcycle. Bike enthusiasts would love to see the reported Scrambler to come with longer suspension travel to make the motorcycle more exciting and appealing.

The Honda CB 350 Scrambler will be powered by the H’ness 348cc, single-cylinder engine. It will deliver 20.8 bhp of maximum power output @5,500 rpm and 30 Nm of peak torque @3,000 rpm. Transmission duties will be taken care by a 5-speed gearbox likely. More launches are expected from Honda in the coming year like a cafe-style racer.
