The first batch of the bike, which is priced at ₹12.9 lakh, consists of 50 units.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has launched the CRF1000L Africa Twin adventure tourer in India. The bike is available with a dual-clutch automatic transmission (there is no manual option), and is open for bookings for an initial batch of 50 units. The bike comes to India as a CKD, and not a CBU, so Honda has managed to price it attractively.

Renowned for its off-roading prowess, the bike is built using high-tensile steel, has high ground clearance with low seat height option and a long 62-inch wheelbase. As far as tech is concerned there’s a switchable anti-lock braking system and an advanced traction control system that comes with three modes. The tourer is powered by a 998cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine.

Y.S. Guleria, senior vice president, sales and marketing, HMSI stated, “The Africa Twin name is inseparable from the spirit of the Dakar Rally, the world’s toughest rally raids. Down to its roots, when the going gets tough, the Africa Twin gets going. There is nothing to hold back an enthusiast on the Africa Twin, as it’s the most reliable, versatile and proven adventure touring motorcycle.”
