Honda’s latest is a crossover that’s based on the Jazz premium hatchback.

After the Accord Hybrid, and the City facelift, Honda will add a new car into its India line-up in the form of the WR-V. The small crossover is based on the Jazz premium hatchback, and is going to hit showrooms on March 16, 2017.

What’s immediately evident is that Honda designers have done their bit in differentiating the WR-V from the Jazz, as from the front side, you can hardly tell that there’s anything common between the two cars.

It sports a rugged look with all the SUV-typical styling elements like beefed-up fenders, body cladding and bigger wheels. To help differentiate it further from the Jazz, Honda has also given the WR-V a different tailgate and rear bumper.

The engines on the WR-V, however, will be the same 90hp 1.2-litre petrol and 100hp 1.5-litre diesel that are found in the Jazz. Also, the interior will be much like the Jazz, but the WR-V will get a new touchscreen infotainment system, revised upholstery and possibly even a sunroof.

Positioned above the Jazz, the WR-V will take on the likes of compact crossovers like the Ford EcoSport, the Maruti Vitara Brezza and the Hyundai i20 Active. Expect it to cost somewhere between ₹8-10 lakh.
