Bajaj Auto is all set to introduce the Husqvarna Swedish motorcycle brand in the Indian market. However, the brand won't be having individual dealership and after sales network in India initially. KTM dealers will be handling the sales and after sales service of Husqvarna bikes across the country. Bajaj Auto will be manufacturing the bikes locally at their Chakan plant.
The Indian motorcycle maker Bajaj Auto has 47 percent stake in KTM and the Austrian brand owns Husqvarna. The first two products from the Husqvarna brand for the Indian market will be the Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401. These bikes are expected to launch by September 2019 in India and will be manufactured alongside KTM bikes at Bajaj Auto's Chakan plant.
Both the bikes Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401 will be sharing the same 373.2cc, DOHC, 4-valve, liquid cooled engine. It is the same engine that currently powers the Duke 390 but it will be tuned a bit differently for the Husqvarna offerings. Since the bikes will be manufactured locally in India, we can expect a competitive price range of about Rs. 3 lakhs (ex-showroom).
