The three-row Alcazar SUV will be positioned between the Creta and Tucson in the Indian market

Hyundai India will be launching the seven-seater Alcazar SUV in the next couple of months in the country. As per a recent media report, the new Alcazar is expected to arrive at dealerships in May 2021. Earlier, it was scheduled to be launched in the second quarter of 2021. As for price, the SUV is expected to fall in the range of Rs 11.50 lakhs - Rs 18 lakhs (ex-showroom).

The three-row SUV will be offered in 6 and 7 seat configurations. Design-wise, it will look similar to the 5-seater Creta. However, it will get minor changes on the front end in terms of bumper and grille. The 2021 Alcazar will get an extended rear profile in order to accommodate the third row of seats. Furthermore, the SUV will also get redesigned tail-lamps, front parking sensors, and twin exhausts.

Moving inside the cabin of the 2021 Alcazar, spy shots had surfaced online a few days ago. From those spy images, we could find out that the seats were finished in a dual-tone shade. The upcoming SUV will get ADAS technology, known as Hyundai SmartSense overseas. We can also expect it to get Creta’s 7-inch all-digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment system integrated with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto.

Under the bonnet, the upcoming Alcazar is likely to house a 1.5-litre turbocharged CRDi diesel engine and a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol unit. These same powertrains are present in Creta where the former dishes out 113 bhp power, while the latter generates 138 bhp. A 6-speed manual gearbox comes as standard. Besides this, the petrol unit gets a 7-speed DCT and the oil burner can be had with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
