Hyundai Creta Sports Edition Launched in Indian Market

Hyundai has been having a good run in the SUV segment in India lately. The South Korean maker has had a dream run with their sub-4 metre compact SUV Venue in the sales area and it had also recently shuffled its Creta SUV model line-up in the Indian market. Not to stop at these the brand has now gone ahead and launched the Sports Edition of Creta in the Indian market. The changes on the new Sports Edition have been limited to only looks. The price for the Creta Sports Edition starts at Rs. 12.78 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 1.6 petrol manual variant and goes all the way up to Rs 14.13 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 1.6 diesel manual variant. As of now, the South Korean maker is  only offering the Sports Edition of the SUV with only manual gearbox.

The launch of the new variant can be seen as an attempt of the maker to keep it fresh in the market before it launched a model update in 2020. Talking of the changes seen on the new Sports Edition, there is the option of dual tone paint scheme available with the Creta. The two paint schemes of the Sports Edition are Phantom Black and Polar White with a Phantom Black roof. The aforementioned dual tone paint costs an extra Rs. 11,000. Among other updates, the brand states that it has made 20 more changes in the new variant of the SUV. The changes on the outside of the new model include smoked treatment for the projector headlights and grille finished in dark chrome shade. Also present are silver roof rails and skid plates on the new model and the aesthetic dual exhaust tips at the rear have also been giving chrome finishing. The outside mirror also has been given black treatment and the rear spoiler too has been given the same look.

The all-new Sports Edition of Creta comes with features like auto climate control, touch infotainment with Apple and Android connectivity support, cruise control, and wireless charging.  These features are also present on other top variants of Creta but the Sports Edition also comes with Creta branded seats with contrast stitching. The steering wheel now comes wrapped in leather and there is also an electric sunroof in this variant of Creta. All of this combined gives this Sports Edition of Creta a slightly premium feel. Talking of safety, the Creta comes with dual airbags, ABS, and other mandatory safety features.

As already stated, the changes in the new variant are only focused on looks and there are no mechanical changes whatsoever. The engine duties are handled by a 1.6L diesel rated to deliver 126 Bhp and 260 Nm and a 1.6L petrol rated to give out 122 Bhp and 151 Nm.
