Hyundai Staria moniker has been trademarked by Hyundai Motor Company

Hyundai Motor Company has been working on an all-new MPV for some time now. Recently, the company has trademarked ‘Staria Premium’ and ‘Staria’ names in the Philippines on September 15 and June 1 respectively. Furthermore, the moniker ‘Staria’ falls under the category of “Automobiles, vans, wagons, electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles”. Thus, it is being speculated that the new name could probably be used for an MPV. It might be retailed in the Southeast Asian market in the near future

Few reports also suggest that the Hyundai Staria could be a large family carrying van. Also, it might replace Starex in the South-Asian market. We can expect the Hyundai compact MPV to be priced slightly more than the Ertiga MPV. Hyundai might use the Venue’s platform for the new MPV. However, the new Creta's platform seems more suitable for the 7-seater MPV. It will be produced in Hyundai’s factory in Indonesia. Furthermore, it will be exported to select markets including the Philippines. The Staria name is also registered in Malaysia, Laos, and Cambodia. If the upcoming MPV turns out to be a volume-based premium vehicle in the Asian markets, it could be considered for India as well.

The Korean automaker will be introducing the new 7-seater Creta code-named Alcazar next year. The company has already started testing the four-wheeler in South Korea. Apart from these, other models in the pipeline include a subcompact sedan and a hatchback.
