Hyundai India has silently discontinued the Grand i10 hatchback in the country. It has been delisted from the official Hyundai website in India which suggests that the company has stopped its production. Hyundai Grand i10 is not likely to return anytime soon as the new Grand i10 Nios has already filled in its shoes. So, after the axing, the South-Korean automaker has now three hatchback models in its Indian portfolio in the form of Santro, Grand i10 Nios and i20. Hyundai Grand i10 was sold in two variants: Magna and Sportz.
Hyundai Grand i10 was firstly introduced in September 2013 as a replacement to the iconic i10. The hatchback featured in the list of the country's ten best-selling cars with the monthly sales numbers going past the 10,000 mark often. It received an overwhelming response from the buyers at the time of its launch in 2013 due to the first-in-segment features that it carried in the form of rear AC vents, cooled glove box and height adjustable driver's seat. Four good years later in 2017, Hyundai launched the facelifted version of the Grand i10 which, again, debuted a host of segment-first features such as 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Navigation.
Come 2019 and Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS was launched as the next-gen Grand i10. However, the Grand i10 still remained on sale to fleet owners. Right from the day of its launch in 2013, Hyundai Grand i10 was available with both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol variants were powered by a 1.2L Kappa engine which churned out top power of 82bhp at 6000rpm and peak torque of 114Nm at 4000rpm. The engine was linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The diesel variants drew power from a 1.2L U2 CRDi engine which generated 74bhp at 4000rpm and 190Nm at 2250rpm. The diesel variants were hugely popular due to their exemplary mileage of 24.95kmpl (ARAI Specified) while mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
