The New Hyundai i20 was recently spotted on the outskirts of Chennai, supposedly part of a convoy that also included the all-new Verna. The heavily camouflaged mule did not give much away, but the rear of the new car is likely to be similar to the outgoing car, whereas the front is reminiscent of the Grand i10 and Xcent siblings’ styling. Other than that, the front grille is now a single, large 'Cascade' type grille that might have been inspired from the newly launched Xcent. The headlamps and front bumper will be new too. Coming to the rear again, the position of the number plate has been shifted while the taillights still wrap around the sides.
The side profile doesn't seem to have changed much except a new set of alloy wheels. The i20 will feature a 1.2 petrol (MT only), the 1.4-litre diesel (MT only) and the 1.4-litre petrol (AT only), and Hyundai is also likely to offer its new 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This engine, based on the 1.0-litre three-cylinder Kappa unit that powers the European i10, features direct injection and a small, single scroll turbocharger, and is expected to produce up to 120hp and 172Nm of torque.
