Hyundai plans to launch its performance-oriented N-Line and N cars in India

Hyundai is planning to bring its ‘N’ performance brand to India. The South Korean automaker will not bring the entire N Line of cars to India. However, we can expect Hyundai Motor India to start off with its i20 N-Line. Hyundai’s performance lineup comprises ‘N’ and ‘N-Line’ cars. Talking about the ‘N’ cars, they are full performance-oriented models that come with a more powerful engine, aero-body kits, upgraded chassis, suspension, and brakes in comparison to the standard cars. The ‘N-Line’ cars, on the other hand, comes with a few sporty upgrades to the interior & exterior along with subtle tweaks to the suspensions & brakes.

Talking about Hyundai i20 N-Line, it will feature subtle cosmetic enhancements to get a sportier appeal. The car will also get a new exhaust system along with minor mechanical updates for better performance. We can expect Hyundai to launch the i20 N-Line by mid-2021 in the Indian market. The expected price will be around Rs 12 lakhs (ex-showroom). Performance-wise, the Hyundai i20 N-Line is likely to house the same 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine under the bonnet. The engine at present generates a maximum power of 119 bhp and a peak torque of 172 Nm. Further, it will get a louder exhaust system along with minor changes made to the suspension to give it more agility. It will also come equipped with a sporty body kit.

Besides these, Hyundai is also planning to launch the i20 N in the Indian market. The model will be imported to the country under the 2500-car quota scheme. Under the hood, the model will be powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol motor in the domestic market. The engine will further churn out 201 bhp power and 275 Nm peak torque. The starting price of the Hyundai i20 N is likely to be Rs 25 lakhs (ex-showroom) if launched in the country. If the demand for N cars turns out to be strong then Hyundai might set up local assembly for them.
