The facelift features cosmetic changes and a few technical updates.

The facelifted Xcent will soon be making its way to the Indian market. Launching on April 20th, 2017 the new Xcent is pitted against the Swift Dzire, with prices expected to be north of ₹5 lakh.

Hyundai has mainly focused on cosmetic updates; mostly at the rear, though the car even comes with a few technical upgrades. Like the recent Grand i10, the Xcent will have a much wider, hexagonal grille and LED DRLs. The rear has been completely reworked and fitted with restyled tail-lamps extending from the rear fenders onto the boot lid. Hyundai may be working more on the fender and the boot lid though before the car’s launch. The interiors come with a new infotainment system and that supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Mirror Link, voice recognition and smartphone navigation. Other features remain the same as the older Xcent, like the dual tone upholstery. There’s a big change that’s expected under the hood too.

The 2017 Xcent will carry forward the current 1.2-litre petrol motor, while the existing 71hp, 1.1-litre three-cylinder diesel engine is expected to be replaced by a more powerful 75hp, 1.2-litre unit from the updated Grand i10.

The Indian compact sedan segment will get a little more competitive this year with the launch of the Swift Dzire, Tata Tigor and Volkswagen Ameo. It shall be interesting to see how the new Xcent will fares against these cars.
