India Bound MG SUV Rebadged As Chevrolet Captiva For Colombia

India bound MG SUV will be rebadged as the Chevrolet Captiva for the Colombian market.

MG Motors will make their debut in India with an SUV, it is scheduled to launch next year. Moreover, the MG SUV will not only be sold in India but it will be rebadged as Chevrolet Captiva for the Colombian market. The next-gen Chevrolet Captiva was recently showcased at the 2018 Bogota Motor Show.

The same SUV has already been rebadged as Baojun and Wuling. The grille of these two SUVs have the same design but the Chevrolet badged gets a grille which has three horizontal slats. The SUV which will be sold in the offshore market has some exterior changes along with better interiors.

The Captiva will be available with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that makes 147 BHP and 230 Nm of torque. While the Indian-spec MG SUV is expected to get two engine options - a 2.0-litre turbo diesel motor from Fiat Crysler Group or a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

The sales of Baojun badged SUV have already been commenced in China while the Wuling and Chevrolet badged vehicle will go on sale in their respective markets next year. Moreover, the testing of India-spec MG SUV is already being done. It is expected to launch in our market by mid-2019 and it will be priced around Rs. 14 lakhs (ex-showroom).
