India-US joint initiative to launch 10,000 EV buses on Indian streets

India and the US have come into partnership to launch 10,000 EV buses on Indian streets. This initiative has taken courses to reduce carbon emissions and have sustainable city life.

EV is the future and no one can deny this fact. In the very support of this statement, recently after G20 talks between Modi and Biden regarding decarbonisation of the transport sector, India and US have come into a joint initiative. This initiative includes rolling out 10,000 electric buses on the streets of India in lieu of reducing carbon emissions and developing sustainable city life. Eric Garcetti, US ambassador to India himself enjoyed a ride in an EV bus in Delhi, after which got thanked by the Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal.

The ambassador traveled to a session on "accelerating deployment of electric buses in India" on an electric bus made in India.

"Taking a ride on an electric bus in India was a very exciting experience for me. Electric buses can alter the world, as we all know. They help us lessen our carbon (footprint), are cleaner and quieter, and ensure that our world will be habitable in the future.

The United States government is collaborating with our colleagues in the Government of India to put more electric buses on the roads of Indian cities, he continued, and this is one of the reasons for it. 

In order to realize a collaborative vision initially outlined during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's formal state visit to the White House, the United States and India have developed a mechanism that would enable the deployment of 10,000 electric buses built in India in towns all over the nation. 

"We witness the effects of the global climate crisis every day. The future of our planet and its inhabitants are in danger if we don't act soon. According to the ambassador, the cooperation launched today would mobilize funding for a fleet of 10,000 electric buses that will travel throughout India, increasing the country's possibilities for using electric public transportation and resulting in cleaner cities and healthier communities. 

The ambassador rode in an electric bus operated by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), according to Minister of Transport for Delhi Kailash Gahlot. 

A payment security system for increasing electric mobility in India will receive joint support from India and the United States, according to a joint statement released earlier this month. This will help the PM e- Bus Sewa scheme, which aims to purchase 10,000 electric buses for cities without adequate public transportation, succeed. 

According to a statement about their discussion, US President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Modi discussed the significance of "decarbonizing the transport sector." Prior to the opening of the G20 Leaders' Summit, Modi and Biden had a meeting at the prime minister's house. 

With the goal of gradually deploying 50,000 additional electric buses throughout the nation, India had established the NEBP in June of last year. 

According to a statement from the US Embassy in New Delhi, "through this new alliance, the US government will collaborate with public and private sector organizations to speed up electric bus financing," which includes the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the office of the US Special Presidential Envoy for the Climate.
