The Jaguar XE has been the only Jaguar model in India to not be fitted with a diesel engine and it looks like Jaguar India will soon be fixing this. The XE is one of the most expensive sedans on offer by Jaguar and many have felt that a diesel variant has been a long time coming.
Since late 2016, Jaguar has been slowly plonking its latest 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine in all its new models; it is safe to assume that the new XE will come with the same diesel engine. It will be paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox as standard in the Indian car. Whether the engine will make the same 180hp as it does in the XF and the F- Pace isn't confirmed yet. The XE is a smaller car compared to the other two, so it is possible that power may be tweaked for appropriate performance. The company may offer the 2.0-litre diesel in two states of tune, like the current petrol model that offers two power outputs.
