Jaguar XE diesel launched

The Jaguar XE diesel gets a 180hp, 2.0-litre engine; prices start at Rs 38.5 lakh.

Jaguar’s C-class rivalling XE sedan is now available in a diesel avatar at a starting price of Rs 38.25 lakh, bookings for which have commenced. The carmaker’s range-starter was thus far, available only with a petrol engine that was offered in two states of tune – 180hp and 240hp.

Power for the diesel XE comes from a 180hp, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine from Jaguar Land Rover’s Ingenium range of engines. This motor makes 10hp more than 2.1-litre diesel engine found in the Mercedes C 220d, and 10hp lesser than the BMW 320d and the Audi A4 35 TDI. It is paired with an eight-speed gearbox by ZF.
