The Czech manufacturer, Jawa is returning to India with a new motorcycle. The Jawa brand was taken over by the Classic Legends Private Limited, which in turn is owned by the Mahindra Group. The test mule of Jawa 300 motorcycle has been spied testing ahead of the launch. The test mule was all wrapped and camouflaged.
The styling and design of the bike were very close to the retro Jawa bikes. The test bike sported round headlamp, round mirrors, round indicators, spoke wheels and rear shock-absorber covers for an old-school appeal. The twin exhaust setup from a single cylinder engine and the parallelogram shaped side covers immediately prompts about the legendary Jawa motorcycles.
The suspension setup of the bike consists of telescopic forks at the front which are of a similar type in the Royal Enfield Classics and gas charged twin shock absorbers at the rear. The bike is expected to come with analogue instrument cluster. There is a single disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear, a single channel ABS is expected as it has been mandated by the government.
The bike will be powered by a BS-VI ready 293cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that gives an output of 27 BHP and 28 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The launch of the bike is scheduled for November 15 and it will be priced around Rs. 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The modern classic Jawa motorcycle will take on Royal Enfield Classic 350 and Bullet 350.
