Ahead of the April 2019 implementation of safety norms for two-wheelers in India, Jawa will introduce dual channel ABS along with rear disc brakes for both the bikes they recently introduced. The Jawa Classic and the Jawa Forty Two were revealed for the Indian audience a few days back and the bookings for the same are open with deliveries starting from January 2019.
The bikes won't get rear discs and dual channel ABS at the time of their launch but in the second quarter of 2019, the Czech brand has confirmed about the introduction of the aforementioned safety features in the bikes. The Jawa Perak that was revealed along with the Jawa Classic and Jawa Forty Two already had ABS and rear disc brake but it will be launched sometime in the second half of next year.
Currently the Jawa bikes come equipped with single channel ABS and will pass the safety norms. However, the bike maker will offer dual channel ABS and for that they need to update the rear drum brake to disc for installing ABS at the rear. This will significantly improve the braking power of the motorcycle. You can expect a price increase of Rs. 15,000/- with the launch of these features.
The new investment is likely to create job opportunities for up to 2,000 individuals in Tamil Nadu.
