The locally-made Compass will be available in five variants.

Jeep had opened bookings for the car sometime last month, and you could opt to buy the car both on its website and at showrooms.

The car will be available in five variants with five exterior paint shades to choose from and it will be available with two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. Under the hood is a 172hp, 2.0-litre diesel motor mated to a six-speed manual transmission and a 162hp, 1.4-litre Multiair turbo-petrol engine from Fiat, that works with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic gearbox.

According to reports, the Compass will be sold initially in its diesel MT configuration. The diesel AT (nine-speed auto), and the petrol engine (with both gearboxes) will join in at a later stage. All Compass variants will come with 60:40 split rear seats and will have six airbags. The company claims there are over 50 safety and security features in the car, which includes electronic stability control, anti-lock braking system and dynamic steering torque. The higher-spec variants of the Jeep Compass will come with a 7.0-inch Uconnect infotainment system, loaded with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

This SUV is Jeep’s First Made-in-India Model to be manufactured at FCA’s Ranjangaon plant. It is likely to be priced in the range of ₹18 lakh for the base trim, and prices will go up to ₹25 lakh for the top-spec variant.
