Jeep Compass Trailhawk bookings now open.

Jeep is gearing up for the launch of the off-road oriented version of their bestseller Compass in the Indian market and the new vehicle will come with the badge of Trailhawk in the market. The upcoming trim of the SUV from the brand will not only be a more off-road oriented version of the normal version of the Compass but it will also be the top end model from the brand and will command the highest price in the line-up in the market. The expected price for the Compass Trailhawk is supposed to be somewhere in the Rs. 30 lakhs range, on-road for the consumer. Now there are reports coming in that the US carmaker has started accepting bookings for the latest SUV from the stables of the brand. Bookings for Jeep Compass TrailHawk are open across all Jeep dealerships in India and the display vehicles have also begun reaching showroom floors. The booking amount has been set at Rs. 50,000, and the best part is that it’s fully refundable. Customers pre-booking the Compass TrailHawk will get priority delivery with minimal wait times. The Jeep Compass TrailHawk will be launched in the coming weeks.

Kevin Flynn the president and managing director at FCA India spoke on the occasion of the commencement of bookings of the Trailhawk and stated,

The Trailhawk is a product which is developed for customers looking for a hugely capable and exclusive SUV in the compact category. It is the first compact SUV to be offered with the 2.0-litre 173 PS, 350 Nm BS VI turbodiesel engine, nearly a year before the new emission norms come into effect and, it is the only compact SUV which comes with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

The Compass Trailhawk comes with a 2L Fiat Multijet turbo diesel engine rated to deliver 170 Bhp and 350 Nm. Mated to this diesel engine is the latest 9 speed torque converter automatic unit form the brand. This is the first time that an automatic gearbox is being offered on any trim of Compass. As stated above the engine will also be BS-VI compliant and is also reportedly more refined than before.

Apart from the mechanicals and the addition of an automatic gearbox on the diesel trim, the more off-roading focused features of the Trailhawk consist of an increased ride height of 30 mm, courtesy the raised suspension. The increased ride height also contributes to better approach and departure angle of the SUV. There are also 4 skid plates present under the body of the Trailhawk to keep the underside of the car safe on all those off-road excursions. The US maker has also added a tow hook to the Trailhawk that is capable of pulling 1.5 times the weight of the SUV.

The Compass Trailhawk also comes with a 4WD system that can be locked, what is more the system also comes with multiple modes for easy off-roading. The rear axle of the SUV can also go completely independent while on the road so as to increase the mileage of the car when you’re not going wild with it. The water wading capability of the SUV has also gone up and the wading depth of the Trailhawk is now 840 mm, which is pretty good. Jeep has also fitted the Trailhawk version of Compass with Falken all terrain tyres that measure 205/70/R17. The tyres sit on 17 inch alloy wheels.
