Jeep H6 Commander is likely to be launched in the Indian market by mid-2022

Jeep India has started testing the right-hand version of its upcoming 7-seater SUV codenamed H6 in the country. It will be built in India for both domestic and international markets. As per a media report, Jeep H6 Commander might get a more powerful diesel engine in comparison to the Compass. In addition, the engine will feature a 48V mild-hybrid system with a BSG Belt-driven starter-generator system. Performance-wise, the SUV will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine. The motor is further rumoured to generate a maximum power of around 200 bhp and a peak torque of 400 Nm. The mild-hybrid tech as mentioned above will help Jeep to keep its emission and fuel economy in check. Also, this is the first time when the mild-hybrid tech will be applied on the popular FCA Stellantis 2.0-litre MultiJet engine.

It is being said that the new SUV will go on sale in Brazil first either by the end of this year or by early 2022, where it will be called the Jeep Commander. We can expect the SUV to arrive on our shores by mid-2022. However, it is still not confirmed whether the American automaker will use the same marketing name for the H6 SUV in India or not. Talking about the price, it might fall in the range of Rs 28 lakhs - Rs 35 lakhs (ex-showroom). Once launched, the H6 SUV will rival the likes of Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner, and VW Tiguan AllSpace

The new H6 Commander will be offered in both 6- and 7-seat configurations. However, the model that was caught on the camera doing test runs was the 7-seater derivative that comes with a bench-type seat for the second row. The 6-seater variant, on the other hand, will get captain seats for the second row.
