The new 7-Seat Jeep SUV will be unveiled globally later this year

Jeep has been working on a 7-seat SUV codenamed H6 for quite some time. As per sources, it will have its world premiere later this year followed by its India launch in 2022. The left-hand-drive version of the SUV codenamed H1 will be sold in global markets. As for the Indian market, the manufacturing of the right-hand-version will begin from April 2022. Jeep India’s plant in Chakan will be the global hub for the production of the right-hand-drive version of Jeep H6. Furthermore, the new 7-seat SUV will be positioned above the Jeep Compass

The new Jeep H6 will be based on the same platform as the Compass. The front fascia of the upcoming SUV is likely to be similar to that of the subcompact SUV. However, we can expect to see subtle changes after the B-pillar. It might get an extended rear end with an upright rear fascia in order to accommodate the third row of seats. As per the source, the Jeep H6 will be equipped with a plethora of features. These will include cooled seats, a touchscreen infotainment head-unit, captain seats in the second row, and a panoramic sunroof.

Under the bonnet, the upcoming Jeep H6 will house a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, Multijet Turbo-diesel engine. The same motor in Jeep Compass produces 168 bhp power and 350 Nm peak torque.  However, we can expect H6 to get a slightly more powerful version. The engine is also expected to get a 9-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox as standard along with an all-wheel-drive system. Furthermore, the global-spec model that is codenamed H1 is believed to get the brand’s new 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine. While we are still not sure if the India-spec H6 SUV will get a petrol-engine or not.
