The BS6 diesel engine with automatic 9-speed transmissions is accessible in two variants; semi-automatic prices will start at Rs. 4 lakhs more than that of the manual version.

The Compass diesel-automatic pricing has finally been revealed by Jeep India-prices launch at Rs 21.96 lakh and go up to Rs 24.99 lakh. Over the past few days, reservations for the Compass Diesel-Automatic have been ongoing, and supplies are expected to begin shortly.

The diesel-automatic Jeep Compass is equipped in two models-Longitude and Limited Plus. Whereas the lower-spec model charges more for Rs 4 lakh than its manual equivalent the top-spec Compass diesel-automatic Limited Plus edition is priced higher than the manual version at about Rs 1.9 lakh.

Whereas, the range-topping Compass model – the Trailhawk (Rs 26.80-27.60 lakh) – was, to now, the Indian market's only other automatic diesel compass. The entry point for the diesel-automatic range has come down by a whopping 4.8 lakh because of the introduction of these new variants. The powertrain on display with the latest Compass models, as we reported earlier, is just like the one under the Compass Trailhawk bonnet.

The company has also introduced a number of functions to the diesel-automatic Longitude to help it distinguish from its manual equivalent. Safety package on the manual and automatic versions is similar, however.

The manual and automatic models of the Limited Plus have the same list of features – six airbags, a dual-pane sunroof, 18-inch alloy wheels, Jeep's 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system, automatic headlights and wipers and an eight-way driver's seat are standard.

While prices for mid-size diesel SUVs such as the Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier and MG Hector top off at 17.34 lakh, Rs 17.31 lakh and Rs 17.28 lakh, respectively, the pricing levels for the Hyundai Tucson diesel and Volkswagen Tiguan (which are a category above) are Rs 20.80-26.97 lakh * and Rs 28.14-31.54 lakh *, respectively. The Compass range (Rs 16.61-27.6 lakh) is exceptional at its current price point as it traverses all segments-particularly in diesel-automatic form.
