Jeep Compass Trailhawk bookings to begin from Mid-June?

New reports on internet suggest that the US carmaker Jeep will open the bookings for their off-roading focused Trailhawk trim of Jeep Compass from the middle of June 2019. The company has been planning to launch the Compass Trailhawk in India since some time now and now the reports suggesting the booking dates have surfaced. Jeep already makes the Trailhawk in India in order to export it to different parts of the world. Recently the US maker had also introduced the Sport Plus trim of Compass in the market but with the launch of Trailhawk, the latter will be the top model of Compass in the market.

The company has already stated that the Trailhawk variant will come with a lot of serious off-roading potential. The added kit that will equip the upcoming Compass trim with these capabilities includes Active Drive Low 4×4 System (the company’s name for the low ratio 4WD system), rear-locking differential, hill-descent control, and an additional Rock mode that will be included in the Selec-Terrain system. To let you know, the Selec-Terrain system on the Compass Trailhawk will now have five modes in total, comprising of Snow, Sport, Sand/Mud, Auto and the latest Rock mode.

Apart from the off-roading focused kit, there are actual changes in the Trailhawk as well. First is the extra 20mm of ground clearance that this trim gets. This will help the SUV tackle challenging terrains very easily. The next set of changes will be visible in the bumpers at front as well as the rear that will assist the car by increasing its approach and departure angles. The water wading capacity will also receive a bump with the Trailhawk will have a water wading capacity of 480 mm, this is much more than the 405 mm that the regular variants of the Compass come with. Other changes on the new twim of SUV will include all-season tires and body details that will make it distinct from other lesser priced variants of Compass. The same treatment will also be meted out to the interiors with Trailhawk branding at several places inside the car.

Talking of the mechanical aspects of the upcoming Trailhawk, the new trim will come powered with a 4-cylinder 2L turbo diesel engine rated for 170 Bhp and 350 Nm. The new engine will comply with upcoming BS-VI emission norms and the transmission will be a 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The presence of extra features and equipment will mean that the Compass Trailhawk will see a price tag far steeper than any other vehicle in the segment. A price tag of Rs. 27 lakhs is what the Compass Trailhawk may come with, however, this remains only speculation for now.
