Maruti Suzuki Celerio Sales Zoom Past Lakh Units for 2018-19

Maruti Suzuki sells more than one lakh Celerio in 2018-19.

Maruti Suzuki has just revealed that their Celerio has sold more than 1 lakh units in the year 2018-19. This marks an increment of around 10 percent in sales as in 2018-19 Maruti Suzuki India Limited sold 103,734 units of their Celerio. This also marks the highest ever annual sales for the budget hatchback Celerio after its launch in 2014. The prices for Maruti Suzuki Celerio start at Rs. 4.41 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi. Till now, the company has sold around 4.7 lakh units of their Celerio hatchback.

India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India Limited recently updated their Celerio in the market. The update brings new standard safety features to Celerio. As per the new update, the Celerio hatchback in the market will now have driver and passenger airbags, seat belt for the driver and front passenger, ABS, rear parking sensors, central locking and speed alert system as standard fittings across all trims. Whereas the upper models will also come with a passenger airbags.

Commenting on the sales of their Celerio hatchback, the senior executive director for marketing and sales at Maruti Suzuki India Limited, R S Kalsi said that,

We are delighted that this glorious benchmark has been achieved by Celerio. With evolved design, technology and ease of driving, Celerio has successfully won hearts of many Indian customers. It was the first car to democratize two-  pedal technology and the recent upgrade in its safety features has significantly enhanced its appeal as the perfect city car. Based on customer feedback, we have continuously provided new contemporary features in Celerio to keep them delighted.

Maruti Celerio locks horns with Hyundai Santro and Tata Tiago in the Indian market. The company also said that Celerio sales in these years have revealed that almost 31% of car’s customers selected the automatic gearbox option on the hatchback and the top model of Celerio accounted for more than half of the sales of the hatch. Another factor that the sales figures reveal is that the dual fuel option of CNG-petrol contributed to around 20 percent of the sales figure.

Celerio comes equipped with a 1L 3 cylinder petrol engine that is rated to deliver 67 Bhp and 90 Nm. The engine is known to be very refined and is mated to a 5 speed manual or AMT automatic gearbox as per the choice of the customer. Earlier, Maruti also offered a double cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with the Celerio, but later discontinued it due to the customers ignoring the car over lower refinement of the diesel engine.
