The Kawasaki Versys 650 BS4-compliant variant was discontinued as per our sources. The bike will, nevertheless, be available in dealers until stocks run. Expect the BS6 Kawasaki Versys 650 to command a premium over the current model of around Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000.

As per reports, the Kawasaki Versys 650 BS6 is expected to be launched in India in mid-2020. They have revealed the discontinuation of the BS4-compliant Versys 650 but it is present in dealerships until stocks last.

The Kawasaki Versys 650 BS6 is expected to obtain a premium of about Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000 over the existing Rs 6.69 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) edition.

Although Kawasaki has not publicly launched the Euro 5/BS6-compliant platform internationally, plan to do so in the coming months from the Japanese brand. Like the BS6 Ninja 650 and the BS6 Z650, the Versys 650 could also get regular LED headlamps and a smartphone-connected TFT screen, but we'll know for sure only when the company can formally announce the new model.

Ironically, the Ninja 650 BS6 arrives with same power and torque statistics as before, while its nude twin, the BS6 model's Z650 lags in torque (1.7Nm). Therefore, anticipate the Versys 650 BS6 to offer somewhat less torque than before, or if we're lucky, it could remain constant. The BS4-compliant ADV produces 69PS at 8500rpm and 64Nm at 7000rpm, for reference.

The BS4-compliant ADV produces 69PS at 8500rpm and 64Nm at 7000rpm, for reference. In the BS6-compliant variant, even the brakes — dual 300 mm petal discs up front and 250 mm petal discs at rear — are likely to remain unchanged.

When released, it will perform in the middleweight, road-based ADV division against the Benelli TRK 502. If you're looking something off-road worthy, there are other choices in the region, such as the Benelli TRK 502X, Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT and SWM Superdual T.
