Kia Carens to be Launched in India on February 15

Kia Carens is the fourth product from the brand in the Indian market

Kia Motors is all set to launch Carens in the country on February 15. With this, Carens is going to be the fourth product from Kia in the Indian market. The bookings have already commenced. Interested buyers can book the vehicle at a token amount of Rs 25,000. The three-row derivative of Seltos will be offered in a total of five variants namely Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury and Luxury Plus.


Moving on, the new Kia Carens is based on the same platform as the Seltos. However, it is a bit longer than the former in terms of dimensions. Having said that, it will be offered either in a 6- or 7-seat configuration. The feature list includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, an 8-speaker Bose audio system, ventilated front seats, a digital instrument cluster, a sunroof, automatic climate control, an air purifier, retractable rear trays with cup holders, ambient lighting, and many more. The robust 10 Hi-safety kit comprises 6 airbags, DBC (Downhill Brake Control), rear parking sensors, ESC, BAS, VSM, ABS, highline TPMS, HAC, and all-wheel disc brakes.

Performance-wise, Kia Carens will get the same set of engine options as the Seltos. Having said that, buyers get to choose from three engine options. While the 1.5-litre petrol engine generates a top power of 113 bhp and a peak torque of 144 Nm. The 1.4-litre turbo petrol unit churns out 138 bhp and 242 Nm. The 1.5-litre diesel unit, on the other hand, develops 113 bhp power and 250 Nm peak torque. Transmission duties are taken care of by a 6-speed manual, 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. 

Talking about the price, we can expect the Carens to fall in the range of Rs 12 lakhs - Rs 20 lakhs (ex-showroom). Once launched in the Indian market, the SUV will rival the likes of Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV700, higher variants of Maruti XL6 and Mahindra Marazzo.
