Going by the teaser image, in the first look the silhouette resembles the large Kia Telluride SUV currently on sale in the US market. It is being speculated that Kia EV9 will be based on Hyundai Motor Group’s (HMG) new E-GMP architecture. The aforementioned platform made its debut with the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and the Genesis GV60. If by any chance Kia EV9 is similar to Telluride in size, it will get a four-wheel-drive standard across all its variants. Furthermore, we can expect Kia EV9 to get a large lithium-ion battery, single & dual motor options, and a range of upto 500 km on a full charge.
Since the preview of EV9 has been posted on Kia’s Worldwide social media handle, we can expect it to reach our shores anytime soon. However, nothing as such has been confirmed yet. Previously it was reported that Kia and Hyundai together are planning to launch 6 electric vehicles in India by 2024. Having said this, Kia will be launching an EV every year for the next three years. This is yet another point that gives us a strong hint that Kia might launch EV9 in the Indian market.
